Jo
Jo joined Seed & Spade during the very early stages of the nursery’s formation and played a key role in helping build it from the ground up. After a career change from working as a Corrections Officer, she brought a strong work ethic, resilience, and genuine passion for plants into the nursery environment.
With extensive personal propagation experience and a long-standing love for gardens and growing, Jo has developed a hands-on understanding of plant care and nursery production. Her dedication and steady presence have been an important part of Seed & Spade’s journey from the beginning.
Triena
Rotorua born and bred, Triena brings decades of hands-on horticultural and nursery experience to Seed & Spade. Her background spans gardening, retail nursery sales, plant propagation, and large-scale nursery production, with experience across businesses including Oderings, Palmers, Bunnings, Mitre 10, Polynesian Spa, Cantabria Rest Home, and many years at the Rotorua Lakes Council nursery.
Known for her positive and uplifting personality, Triena combines extensive plant knowledge with a genuine passion for helping plants — and people — thrive.
Buddy
Buddy leads sales and business development at Seed & Spade, bringing over 15 years of retail management experience and a strong passion for people, relationships, and customer service. With a background in landscaping operations and project delivery, he works closely with clients to provide practical, landscape-ready plant solutions for projects of all sizes.
Focused on growing both the nursery and the relationships behind it, Buddy is passionate about building a positive team culture, supporting clients, and continuing to expand the Seed & Spade brand.
Sprocket - Chief Morale Officer
Sprocket is a daily part of life at Seed & Spade and can usually be found supervising the nursery, greeting visitors, or chasing a frisbee around the yard. Always close by and full of personality, she’s an important part of the team culture and keeps spirits high on busy nursery days.
